How do we prevent oily scalp for both genders?

1.Shampoo every other day. This may seem counter-intuitive but daily washing actually exacerbates oil production. Shampoo strips your scalp of moisture, often causing it to overproduce oil in an effort to moisturize itself. By shampooing your hair every other day, rather than daily, you can stabilize oil production and prevent oily hair.

2.Use shampoo that is designed for oily scalps. Stay away from hydrating or moisturizing shampoos which can leave your scalp and hair feeling and looking oily.

3.Apply conditioner to the ends of your hair, not your scalp. Since you have an oily scalp, you don't need to add the extra moisture there. Instead, focus conditioner on the ends of your hair where scalp oil doesn't easily reach.

4.Avoid styling products. Gels, mousses and hairsprays all contribute to oily hair. If you must use a styling product, opt for a lightweight gel that is designed for fine or oily hair.

5.Mix 1/2 cup of lemon juice with 3 cups of water. Pour the solution over your scalp and distribute it throughout your hair. The acidity of the lemon juice absorbs excess oil.

6. Brush your hair as little as possible. When you brush, comb or style your hair, you likely touch your scalp, thereby stimulating oil production. Avoid this stimulation by touching your scalp as little as possible. Avoid scalp massages which greatly encourage oil production.

7.Sprinkle a bit of baby powder onto your scalp. The baby powder will absorb excess oil as it is produced, thereby preventing oily hair.
